~ A Day at Trail Creek Camp ~
Imagine this. It’s daybreak, and you awake to the songs of meadowlarks and bluebirds. The sun is just breaking over the eastern hill, and the air is fresh and fragrant. The creek churtles and the grass and willows are dewy and brilliant in the new light. It’s time to start your day at Trail Creek.
We’ll serve you a simple breakfast of hearty breads, muffins, cereals, fruit, and tea and cowboy coffee, in the Buffalo Jump Lodge between 8 and 10:00. Take your breakfast and sit at the tables by the creek if you’d like. We’ll be there if you have any questions or need any help in planning your day.
Use our “Area Recreation and Respite” section to help you decide what to do outside of Trail Creek. If you want to stick around home, you can certainly partake of all sorts of activities. We have maps for hiking; area information for reading; fishing poles for your use; horseshoes at the top of the hill; table tennis and darts in the meadow; bicycles for your pleasure; plenty of art supplies; and lots of rustic furniture about to settle into!
And, if you need any assistance, we can arrange for all sorts of other activities during your stay.
At some point during your stay, you’ll want to use your complimentary guest pass – our gift to you - to swim at historic Chico Hot Springs, across Paradise Valley, about 10 miles away. Enjoy a relaxing soak and a drink from the pool-side tavern. There’s also a pool-side grill for easy lunches or dinner; or if you’d rather, dine at Chico’s famous western-elegant fine restaurant.
Other places for lunch or dinner? Try the nearby (5 miles down the gravel road) historic Emigrant Saloon, or drive into Livingston (15 miles north) for a fun time of shopping, gallery viewing, and dining Or, take the gravel back road to Bozeman (about 25 miles), or Highway 89 and then I-90 (about 40 miles) and enjoy many hours of touristing!
Get back to Trail Creek Camp in time, however for a guided walk under the stars to listen to the coyotes (sometimes wolves), or a sit by our nightly campfire (like some’mores?).
Then, sleep well, full of fresh air and mountain goodness in either:
